General Usage
Simply paste any GitHub repository URL, or replace "hub" with "1file" in the GitHub URL. git1file generates a condensed, readable file suitable for AI workflows.
No setup or installation is required. git1file is fully cloud-based and instantly accessible via your browser.
git1file supports all programming languages found in typical GitHub repositories, ensuring maximum compatibility.
File Handling & Exclusion
git1file automatically skips binary files, large media assets, executables (.exe), images (.png), and documents (.pdf) to keep outputs focused on source code.
Yes, by logging in, you can configure custom exclusion patterns to tailor file selection to your needs.
Compression
git1file employs specialized algorithms that identify redundant code segments, whitespace, and comments, compressing your repository output to save token usage without losing important context.
Normal Compression (Starter Plan) provides basic compression suited for general workflows. Ultra Compression (Pro Plan) reduces file sizes by 25% or more, significantly cutting down token costs, perfect for extensive or frequent analyses.
Private Repositories & Security
Absolutely. git1file securely ingests code directly from GitHub via authenticated integration, ensuring your private repositories remain confidential and secure.
git1file securely stores your repository data only as long as you keep it in your analysis history. You have full control and can remove any analysis and its associated data at any time.
Plans and Pricing
Starter (Free): Public repos only, normal compression, default filtering, limited to 1000 files per repository, limited analysis history. Pro ($10/lifetime): Supports private repositories, ultra compression (25%+ token saving), unlimited files, infinite analysis history, and upcoming custom branch and API access.
No hidden charges or limitations. A one-time payment provides lifetime access to all current and upcoming advanced features listed under the Pro tier.
API & Integrations
API access is currently under development and coming soon, allowing seamless integration with GitHub Actions and other automated workflows.
Yes, upcoming API functionality will enable direct integration into your CI/CD workflows and automated deployment processes.
Technical Details
git1file provides structured XML outputs for optimized ingestion by LLMs, as well as raw text outputs for general use cases.
XML format provides clear, hierarchical structuring, making it easier for language models to parse and maintain context.
Performance and Limits
git1file can process repositories of virtually any size, though extremely large repositories (>100MB) may take longer to process. The Pro plan removes file count limitations entirely.
Most repositories are processed within seconds to a few minutes, depending on size and complexity. Our optimized processing ensures minimal wait times even for larger codebases.
User Management
Currently, Pro accounts are designed for individual use.
git1file is one-time payment. If needed, we'll send any payment information to the email associated with your GitHub account.
Troubleshooting
This typically happens due to authentication issues. Ensure you've properly connected your GitHub account and have the necessary permissions for the repository. If problems persist, try reconnecting your GitHub account.
You can adjust the compression settings or use custom include/exclude patterns (Pro plan) to ensure critical files are included. If you're still experiencing issues, contact our support team for assistance.
Advanced Features
While our current focus is on optimal code compression and formatting for LLMs, we're developing advanced features for automated code summarization and documentation generation to be released in future updates.
